2. New chapter of Claymore. Aaaaah oh god how does it continue to be so awesome and make me care about its obscenely huge cast that will invariably die soon, likely in horrible ways? (It also made me think about a paper I wrote on it about the monstrous feminine....)

3. My universe with Morgan in it keeps gnawing on my brain and getting more and more complex. I need to bring it back to the silly adventures of a dude and his dragon who enjoys blowing things up and the vaguely incompetent conspiracy to catch them. It's like a buddy comedy! That shakes its head at the dragonrider genre*. But it keeps wanting to include other elements in it.

And Morgan is okay with that, because it means that fewer bad things happen to him. Except one of the elements is the professor of theoretical arcana who teaches Thrace better ways to blow things up, because she is of the "unattended children will be given an espresso and a puppy" school of thought, and this extends to adorable young men who earnestly build things they really ought not to. I will never get tired of the bastion-of-sanity-amid-very-fun-people paradigm. I just won't. Especially if they're as sarcastic and deadpan as he is.

*'Cause, man. The more I thought about it the more I realized I have serious logic issues with the whole concept of dragonriding. Actually, I like it down in the id part of my brain, while the rest of me goes "but that's stupid!" with all the petulance of a five-year-old who knows that the emperor has no clothes on. ...And that a giant, firebreathing lizard who is also likely super intelligent really doesn't want to be ridden around by a fragile biped like some kind of glorified pony (and making them a glorified pony means they're not dragons anymore, so what's the fun of it?). Especially since the dragon has to do all the work anyway, so said dragonrider is doing... what, offering moral support? Come on! It makes no sense whatsoever! Why is Huma riding a silver dragon, all he could do was wave his sword menacingly because, c'mon, it's not like he can actually reach anything.

4. Why am I plotting so much? I have exams. Also this story is silly and I need to work on pirates.

When my old comp crashed, I didn't re-install WoW and was pretty serious about quitting the game entirely.

Except I keep getting these pangs to go back, and they reached a sort of fever pitch yesterday. I really, really want to play. Except it's finals, I can't play now! But I want to!

Part of it is being nervous. I've been gone for a long time, and apparently my raiding alliance finally got it together and did what I've been wanting to do for weeks beforehand, GDI. There's also another mage (I've been the only one, really) which always makes me uneasy since other mages tend to turn into jerks around me, particularly when I won't play the e-peen game (you can't win it, don't bother). He also outgears me. Of course.

Speaking of outgearing, I hate the casual friendly token system. I'm a casual. I have the time to raid, but I don't have the time to run 4 dungeons a day to get enough tokens to upgrade. 4 hours twice a week? Totally casual friendly. 2+ hours a day? ...No. No. As soon as I get up to snuff, Blizz comes out with a new set that I can only get by running heroics for, what, 120 tokens, at 4 or 5 tokens per dungeon.... Such an unfriendly system. Oh sure, they say it's better because you can break it up as you want to, but that's still a boatload more hours than just, you know, raiding a couple times a week. Which the whole "catering to the casuals" thing was supposed to circumvent.

I am totally rolling a gnome or dwarf warrior on a friend's server to bullshit around with, though. Even if I don't raid and all my buddies have forgotten me. I know they haven't, but there's that nagging fear. Most people feel it when they've been gone from something for so long. I feel it really keenly since I never talk to anyone on the internet anymore, so without WoW cruising the net is a far more solitary endeavor than I remember it being since I was a kid and surfing on a 28k modem.

God. Want. But finals! I figured as finals loom closer I'd feel the crunch, but I'm still not feeling any sense of pressure or any real urgency. It's so weird. Here I am, three days before my civil procedure exam, screwing around on LJ. Granted I've been screwing around on the internet far more than I should be as of late, but still.
