so today, or yesterday rather, [info]wilde_child and i went to Borders today to pick up the new Kim Harrison. i burst through the door quite um...bouncilyTM and headed straight for the "new fiction" rack. not there :(

went to the "new fiction" table and full shelves. not there.

went to the mystery/thriller and sci-fi/fantasy sections. not there.

began to freak out. so i went on that little computher thingy they have, which i hate, becasue it has that horrible like old school bowling game orb thingy for a mouse, and it said that the book was "on it's way. reserve your copy up front". I WAS CRUSHED! i pouted my way to the cafe and told Bonnie my pain.

when we were heading over to the music section (yay for music/movie/book superstores) i walked pass a table...

that had nothing but the new book on it. after i did my "Life it teh good!" danceTM, i felt so bad. here i was bitching and moaning, and i didn't even look that well. i felt like such a customer. at least i didn't go make a staff member try to find it for me, or bitch to them about it.

but yeah, new booky goodness! to all who have purchased said book, what's up with K.H.'s picture on the back cover? it looks like she was going for jaunty, but it just comes off as, well, painful looking. her publicist should get no sweets after supper.

so yes. this will make book #12 for my [info]50bookchallenge, and then i'm starting the His Dark Materials series.

meh. okay. nite nite.

dear [info]50bookchallenge,

thank you for earning me a personal shopping day at Borders. :)

I just finished my first book. Hell to Pay: A Novel of the Nightside by Simon R. Green. I'm already a huge fan of the 'verse, so it was a quick read.

The Nightside series centers around John Taylor, Private Eye. "The boundries of that dark and secret place, the Nightside, lie entirely contained within the city of London. And in that sick and magical place, gods and monsters, men and spirits, go about thier very private business, chasing dreams and nightmars you won't find anywhere else, marked down at sale price and only slightly shop-spoiled."

This is book numba six in the series, so I'd suggest you check out Something From the Nightside first. It's book numba one. Pretty much all of the Nightside books are short reads, so they're great for lunch breaks, bus rides, and church services.

Next on my list is Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. it was suggested by the lurvly [info]dreya_uberwald, so i'm all a flutter to read it.

Here are a bunch of quotes I enjoyed. They're more than they are for you. mmm...icon quotable goodness. )

so i've decided to join [info]50bookchallenge because it seemed like a fun thing to do. i hope to go over 50, but we'll see. anwyay, this is where i'll keep my list of books to read/i've read to mark my progress. in addition, i encourage people to suggest books in the comments, so that i don't read 50 books about wizard/witch detectives trying to pay the bills and save the world.

if you're interested, here's the list thus far. )
